Matte Chrysocolla Pendant -SOLD
Chrysocolla is a copper stone with colours ranging from light green to deep blue. The name chrysocolla was first used by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and botanist, in 315 B.C.
So many stones today have a shiny high gloss surface. I love this stone precisely because of the subtle matte finish. I think it really sets it apart and beautifully highlights the different shades of green and blue. It reminds me of jungle foliage. The pale blue stone on the bottom brings a nice visual spot of colour to the piece. The back of the pendant has a small heart cut out of the silver.
About the Stone
Often mistaken for turquoise, chrysocolla is often found associated with malachite, turquoise and azurite. It is found wherever large copper deposits occur, such as Africa, Mexico and the U.S. state of Arizona.
